Rev. Alexis Coleman is a 2008 graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC (MDiv) and was ordained an elder in full connection in the United Methodist Church (UMC) in 2012.  She was appointed to First United Methodist Church in Asheboro in July 2020 and will be planting a new faith community on the Francis Street campus, as well as serving as the director of Lydia’s Place Women’s and Family Shelter. Alexis is a certified trainer for Bridges Out of Poverty, a model which helps communities create long-term sustainable solutions to address the root causes of poverty. Rev. Coleman is also a certified coach through Passion in Partnership, an organization dedicated to the development of lifelong fruitful ministries for both clergy and laity.  In addition to her MDiv, she holds a BS in Computer Science from Tennessee Technological University (1985) and an MA in Christian Education from Pfeiffer University (2002).  Alexis worked in the Information Technology field for 20 years before answering the call to ministry.  Rev. Coleman has been married to her husband Jon for over 30 years.  They have two adult children, Ashley and Cassie.
